Because Microsoft is ending support for the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA), HAQM Appstore on Windows 11 will no longer be supported after March 5, 2025. HAQM and Microsoft are partnering to create a smooth end of support experience for developers and customers of HAQM Appstore on Windows 11. Developers will no longer be able to submit net new apps targeting Windows 11 after March 5, 2024, but developers with an existing app can continue to submit app updates until HAQM Appstore on Windows 11 is fully discontinued.
Starting on March 6, 2024, Windows 11 customers will not be able to search for HAQM Appstore or associated apps from the Microsoft Store. Customers may continue using HAQM Appstore apps that they previously installed and will still be able to receive app updates.
Will my app(s) on HAQM Appstore on Windows 11 devices be affected in any way?
Existing apps on HAQM Appstore on Windows 11 will not be impacted before the discontinuation date. Developers of current apps will continue to be able to submit app updates until that point.
Do I, as a developer, have to take any action during this wind down period
No, no action is required of developers.
What happens to my apps after the discontinuation of HAQM Appstore on Windows 11?
Apps installed from HAQM Appstore on Windows 11 devices will no longer be supported after the discontinuation date. HAQM Appstore will continue to be available and supported on other surfaces, including Fire TV, Fire Tablet, and Android devices.
Can I submit new apps or app updates during this wind down period?
You can submit updates to existing apps during the wind down period. However, new app submission will not be supported.
Do I need to remove Windows 11 availability in advance of the discontinuation date, or will HAQM Appstore do so?
Developers will not need to take any action leading up to the discontinuation. When the time comes, HAQM Appstore will make all necessary adjustments.
Will HAQM Appstore on Windows 11 devices let customers who have installed my app know the date on which the app will no longer be supported?
Existing customers of HAQM Appstore on Windows 11 have been alerted via email regarding the upcoming changes and can visit the Customer FAQs page if any questions arise.
Can new customers discover and install my app during the wind down period?
No. Starting March 6, 2024, customer will no longer have the ability to install new apps. They will still have access to previously-installed apps.
